Usage Policy

The Digital Experience Lab is brought to you by Northwestern Mutual to provide a forum where you can interact with the Home Office about solutions and ideas for changing, enhancing and improving Northwestern Mutual products, services, and technology offerings.

By Using the Digital Experience Lab you are agreeing that you understand, are aware of, and will comply with the following terms and conditions as well as all other related policies:
 
  • Your invitation to participate in the Digital Experience Lab is personal and non-transferable. Your Digital Experience Lab member name and password are for your use only and may not be used by any other person inside or outside the Digital Experience Lab.
  • The Digital Experience Lab may provide you with information and ideas that are not known to the general public and/or other members of the Field. Such information is confidential and you may not disclose it to any other persons.
  • Under no circumstance can ideas submitted to or generated by the Digital Experience Lab constitute a promise or contract for products or services. Nor can any information submitted to or generated by the Community in any way change or modify the existing terms and conditions applicable to any Northwestern Mutual products or services.
  • Please review the Privacy Policy. Also, please note that the Digital Experience Lab may contain hyperlinks or "links," to other Northwestern Mutual sites. These sites have different privacy practices from the Digital Experience Lab.
  • When you join the Digital Experience Lab, you will be asked to provide certain personally identifiable information about yourself. When invited to join discussion forums, you will be asked to create a user name, which can be your real name. These are the only times you should include personally identifiable information about yourself.
  • All information you post to the Digital Experience Lab will be visible to all other Digital Experience Lab users. Do not include any personally identifiable information about your clients, prospects, or others within posts or submissions to the Digital Experience Lab. Examples include names, policy numbers, and contact information of customers, clients, and prospects. Also, the only personally identifiable information about you or Home Office employees/contractors that you can include is name, work phone number, and work email.   • You must comply with all data protection policies and procedures when using the Digital Experience Lab.
  • You may link to or upload articles, websites, and other materials that discuss insurance, investment and advisory products, programs, and services (“Materials”). All such Materials must be treated as informational only and for FR use only. Such Materials cannot be used with clients and prospects unless approved by the Marketing Materials Compliance division of the home office prior to use.
  • Copyrighted third-party materials cannot be uploaded. Copyrighted third-party materials existing on public internet sites can be linked.
  • All posts, comments, messages and other content are captured, monitored, subject to a reasonable system of supervision, and retained by Northwestern Mutual. The company reserves the right to remove any posts, comments or other content.
  • All Digital Experience Lab posts must be in English.
  • By joining the Digital Experience Lab, you agree that Northwestern Mutual has the right to use the ideas and information that you put forth in the Digital Experience Lab in any manner and for any purpose that it desires, in its sole discretion, including commercial use. You agree to assign and do hereby assign to Northwestern Mutual all rights (including, without limitation, copyright and patent rights) in any content, ideas or expressions of ideas that you submit to Northwestern Mutual or otherwise communicate through the Digital Experience Lab in any and every form or media (e.g., comments, suggestions, graphics, etc.). You further agree to execute any specific assignments as may be required by Northwestern Mutual and provide all reasonable assistance to Northwestern Mutual in obtaining and enforcing the rights assigned to Northwestern Mutual by you in accordance with the above sentence.
  • By joining the Digital Experience Lab, you consent to receive emails from the service, including emails sent by or on behalf of Northwestern Mutual, Think Passenger, Inc., and the community administrator, Fuel Cycle, Inc.
  • You must use a passcode on any mobile device used to access the Digital Experience Lab

Home Office PII (Employee / Contractor) Home Office PII includes information about past, present or future Home Office employees and contractors that makes an individual reasonably identifiable by description (for example, Jane Doe who works in POS).
Confidential Home Office PII includes personal information about Home Office employees and contractors such as home address, home phone, birthdate, personal medical information, etc.Home Office PII is prohibited except that limited work-related Home Office contact information is allowed
No Home Office PII can be included in the Digital Experience Lab posts, notes, linked documents or uploaded documents except that name, work phone number, work email of Home Office employees and contractors can be included in the Digital Experience Lab.
Field PIIField PII includes information about past, present, or future members of the Field that makes an individual reasonably identifiable by description (for example, Jane Doe who is an FR in Milwaukee).
Confidential Field PII includes personal information about any member of the Field such as home address, home phone, birthdate, etc.
Highly Confidential Field PII includes a person’s name and one or more of the following:
  • social security number
  • driver's license number
  • government issued ID number
  • medical/health information
  • financial information
  • bank account numbers
  • income or compensation
Field PII is prohibited except that limited work-related Field contact information is allowed
No Field PII can be included in the Digital Experience Lab posts, notes, linked documents or uploaded documents except that name, work phone number, work email of Field members can be included in the Digital Experience Lab.
Confidential Proprietary Information (Home Office or Field)Confidential Proprietary Information includes Northwestern Mutual documentation or communication that would be likely to result in substantial harm if public disclosure was to occur. It also includes related ideas and information.
Examples include, but are not limited to: policies and procedures, Information Releases, compensation information, legal documents, complaints, underwriting process, audit information, recruiting process, potential innovations, etc.Confidential Proprietary Information is allowed in all forms
Confidential Proprietary Information can be included in the Digital Experience Lab posts, notes, or uploaded documents, but must be kept confidential by users.
